I can’t remember if I posted this or not so… I colored this wonderful Rick Field’s drawing about a year ago. This was the first time I colored Rick since our Farm Lessons days. I miss him. The book is on Amazon if you’d like to check it out.

Some uniforms never fit right.

Budd Root may not draw porn but his art has never had a shortage of ass and tits. I just read on Frank Cho’s blog that he will be releasing a Budd Root art book and I’m pretty excited about that. For more info, here’s Frank’s blog post.

I know this is kind of an Eastern thing because I see this in Manga and anime all the time, but you really need to be careful when using radial highlights. I see guys overuse radial highlights and the end result is very amateurish diseased looking skin.

Here is the flat colors and I randomly airbrush a little red orange into her skin.

This is what I mean by painting freckles. Instead of focusing on the entire form, I added the shadow color around the highlights thus making it look like she has pimples or something.

Here I used the shading around the form itself and then added the radial highlights. It’s a slight difference but it IS a difference. So unless the characters you’re painting are in a concentration camp or are zombies, you may want to be careful. Pimpled skin isn’t usually very sexy.
